National Walk to Work Day

Friday, April 6th is Walk to Work Day! Right on the heels of National Walking Day (yep, foot pun), Walk to Work Day is another opportunity to celebrate our favorite non-running bipedal activity. 

We realize that not everyone has a commute short enough to walk, but you can still participate! There are plenty of ways to incorporate more walking into your working day, like walking during lunch, turning those mid-morning and late-afternoon snack breaks into walking breaks, or just setting a reminder to get up and walk around the office every hour. Walking at least 30 minutes a day has been shown to reduce risk of heart disease, help manage blood pressure, lower obesity risk, and improve mental health. Even regular runners can benefit by incorporating more walking into their pre- or post-run work day. Read more about the health benefits of walking here.
