Education Seminars

 Seminar Series

Fleet Feet Raleigh is proud to offer educational seminars at our store.  Topics include injury prevention, nutrition, and cross-training workouts to name a few.  All seminars are open to everyone, include refreshments, and take place at Fleet Feet Raleigh unless otherwise noted.

Below is a description of the seminars that are offered on a regular basis.  If you are interested in attending, please visit our calendar page for seminar dates and a link to rsvp.

Nutrition for Distance Runners
Hosted by a local nutritionist, this seminar can focus on a wide varitey of topics related to maximizing efficiency in training for distances of 10K or longer.  The host will answer your questions and make diet recommendations based on class interest.

Garmin Tech Night
Led by our staff guru Alex, the tech night will review the basic functions of Garmin's running-based line.  Learn how the models can track your speed, distance, calories, heart rate, and more.  The seminar will also address using the website Garmin Connect to track workouts.  For those with specific questions about a particular model or who need to trouble-shoot, please contace Alex.Warren@fleetfeetraleigh.com

Yoga for Runners
Conducted by a local yoga instructor, this seminar will be interactive with participants following along.  Occasionally it will also begin with participation in a walk or run, but will always focus on moves to integrate into the runners yoga repetoire.

Foam Roller Clinic
This is an interactive clinic where participants practice foam roller moves along with the instructor.  The class is taken through a whole body workout where using the foam roller for massage on all major muscle groups is demonstrated.

Self Defense for Athletes
This is a special edition seminar not offered as often as the others.  When we have a qualified instructor, the seminar demonstrates moves that will help protect the athlete against any sort of unexpected attack while out on the road or trail.

Good Form Running (Transitioning to Barefoot)
Based on New Balance's tactics and research for transitioning to minimalist footwear, this clinic is taught by our two in-store certified instructors.  They will discuss the four main components of increasing efficiency through posture, cadence, etc. that will effectively help you to transition to a barefoot or minimal shoe injury free.  Seminar is often taught with time at the end to go for a run and practice the concepts.
