Training Program Success Stories

Since we first offered training programs in early 2008, Fleet Feet Raleigh and our wonderful volunteers have witnessed the transformation of numerous participants who chose to make a life changing decision by joining one of our training programs.  We’d like to share with you a few of their stories.  This could be you!

 Mud Runners Trail Running

I DO LOVE Mud Runners, and if No Boundries didn't keep me in shape too, I would only trail runs. I loved the Springmaid Splash (goal race), wish I could have done better. The location is so wonderful. I will definitely run the Splash again next year.” –Harry

“I signed up for the Mud Running training because my ultra-runner older brother from Australia had just visited me for a couple of weeks and I entered a Fun Run 1K while he did a 10K.  Shortly after that, someone at my gym was describing a mud running event they’d done and it sounded like the most fun in the world!"

"The best thing about the program was getting to see the trails with the group.  I would definitely participate in future trail running programs."

"I LOVED the Springmaid Splash and plan to do it every year from now on.  It was beautiful to be out in nature. The water parts of it give you time to catch your breath and cool off."

"I don’t think anything could have been done differently to make my trail running experience better.  I thought the mentor concept was really great and it definitely helped me.  Also, it was great to know that there was someone to check on you if you were last.” -Elaine

No Boundaries Beginners 5K Training

"A good friend was planning to run in the Race for the Cure in June and thought it would be fun and a good idea to get me moving. I have had several years of failed  (stop/start) attempts at balancing exercise with nutrition. My friend was excited about this 12 week NO BOUNDARIES program and I thought, maybe it would jump start me into a exercise routine. I never wanted to run.  I just thought I would walk, but now in my 5th week I am walking and running (jogging)"

"I take my hat off to the volunteer coaches. The coaches’ professionalism and love of running and training regardless of whether you are a beginner or more advanced is both inspiring and appreciated. I have met some amazing people and the camaraderie is the best!"

"I actually enjoy the training and look forward to Tuesdays and Saturdays.  The Fleet Feet staff are so knowledgeable and helpful.  They obviously love what they do and are very skilled in making even the most beginning runner feel valued.  The volunteer coaches are all just fabulous.  Each one has such a gift for inspiring and encouraging us along the way, even when we just can't complete a running interval! They have offered great tips on stretching, breathing, etc and it has been enormously helpful."

"I've run a few 5Ks before (years ago) and have been making noise about getting back into running and into shape. My wife was coaching a No Boundaries group and convinced me to come out and run on one of the Saturday runs. It was fun to meet some new people and to run with a group that is very close to each other in ability. From my perspective, running with a group is much more fun and easier (and more likely to happen!) than running on your own."
