The No Boundaries program is off and running as participants finish their second week of training. They are divided into three groups based on their goals for the 5K: Cheetahs, Roadrunners, and Hares. The program is lucky to have a fantastic group of volunteer coaches, who motivate participants and keep track of running/walking intervals during the workouts. In addition to providing a 5K training plan, one goal of the No Boundaries program is to educate participants on all aspects of running and walking. Informative seminars about different aspects of their training are presented every Tuesday before the workout. The first seminar discussed the mechanics of proper running/walking form and was led by Fleet Feet's own Jan Wells, a certified massage therapist and personal trainer. The seminar for week two was presented by Progress physical therapy and informed participants on the importance of hydration and stretching. Future seminars will cover nutrition, shin splints, and body remodeling among other topics. |
